[tips] Do you give Incompletes?

Would like to know under what circumstances a tipster  assign a student an I grade? And is this a written policy in the course outline? I have a student who suddenly disappeared (please do not ask me to operationally define disappearance) the last two weeks of the semester.This student has a good grade so far so I decided to assign him an I.
