Sadly missing from this list is my personal favourite,  "in harm's way", 
as in this pronouncement from the fearless leader of the You Ess Eh:

"Many volunteered after 9/11, knowing full well that their time in the 
military could put them in harm's way".

The phrase collects 530,000 hits on Google, which compares favourably 
with "we're pregnant", which made the list with a mere 50,600 hits.

Whatever happened to the simple phrase " in danger'?
