IU Kokomo is a branch campus of Indiana University. Tenure track individuals have the option of choosing a teaching (4 courses) or a research (3 courses and "adequate" publications). We do have lab space for human participant research, but no lab space for animal participant research. The labs were originally set up when faculty were doing animal research; however, it has been 7 years or more since any of that has gone on here, so we have to deal with humans and all of the problems they produce.

No lab space for us here at Belmont Abbey College. We use the school’s computer labs and to classrooms. We have a 12 hour teaching load, and expectation of “continued scholarly development” but that doesn’t mean publication.

As Chair of our department I have been asked to produce a document describing our department's current status, our goals, and the major obstacles to achieving our goals. One thing that I've identified and mentioned in many previous reports is lack of lab space assigned to Psychology faculty. So, I'd like to ask, how many of you are at institutions where you have no assigned lab space? Do you feel that not having a lab hampers your professional development? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
