When I was in graduate school, some profs seem to be reluctant in admitting
undergrads to their graduate programs.A student who got a Bachelor's
from that school was not likely to be admitted to a graduate program at that
same school. It appeared that graduate admissions committee preferred
to seek grads from other schools. One prevailing reason was that grads from
other schools would strengthen the academic flexibility of the programs.
Is this still the thinking of grad admissions program today?
And what are the pros and cons of admiting or not admitting a school's
undergrads to its graduate programs?
I got my Bachelor's from Gannon University in Erie,Pa,a Masters from Wichita
State in Wichita,Kansas and a PhD from University of Missouri-Columbia.
And I am thinking of a post-doc at Black-Benoit-Green University.
Can you imagine someone getting a BA,MA,PhD all at the University of Florida?
And also teaching in Florida?

Tell me something I don't know.
