To clarify, I do set time aside for other leisure activities such as
gardening, occasional birding, and surf fishing (though that keeper
Striped Bass continues to elude me this fall). It's just that, as I had
pointed out to Marie off-line, I would feel guilty if I were to read
fiction because to me it would be like 'cheating' by not allocating that
time to academic reading. Of particular concern to me is reading
historical fiction as I often wonder the extent to which that genre
contributes to faulty knowledge about actual historical events.
Your collective responses are consistent with the comments of others
with whom I have shared my reading habits and I am now committed to
changing and getting back to one of my earlier passions: Science fiction
- even if sometimes it too contributes to faulty knowledge about actual
scientific facts.
I don't know about power naps (a shorter version of a siesta?), Louis,
but you are absolutely right. Life is too short.

Miguel, there's always time. I just find it and make the time because
it's important to me. I usually read before I hit the sack. I've been
reading the "Women's Murder Club" series lately. I get up at before
the crack of dawn, brew coffee, do the crossword puzzles online,
workout, and power walk. I even take a daily 20 minute power nap
sometime in the early afternoon. It's all quite refreshing and
invigorating. You gotta stop and smell the proverbial roses. Life is
too short not to. Trust me, I know.
Make it a good day.
