I can actually make her pan right to left, left to right - just going back and forth and never doing a complete circle...

I think it is a classic figure/ground kinda thing. The key to getting her to reverse directions is seeing that the leg is in the foreground (in front of her body) or the leg is in the background (behind her body). With a bit of practice I can do it at will...

No left/right brain thing here at all
