http://starlearners.com/obesityinchildrenresearch1.html Contrary to Michael's observation, Russian women do not seem particular immune to being overweight or obese, just slightly below USA, although USA statistics vary by ethnicity, complicating comparisons. Rather it appears that it is the Russian men who have the small stomachs, or have healthy eating habits, or any of the innumerable other possibilities. Michael's observation would probably be a good one to teach about various methodological issues, including the dangers of small and selective samples, the multiplicity of explanations for (even erroneous) correlational data, ...
