Hi

There are of course international statistics on weight in different countries,
for example at:

http://starlearners.com/obesityinchildrenresearch1.html

Contrary to Michael's observation, Russian women do not seem particular immune
to being overweight or obese, just slightly below USA, although USA statistics
vary by ethnicity, complicating comparisons. Rather it appears that it is the
Russian men who have the small stomachs, or have healthy eating habits, or any
of the innumerable other possibilities.

Michael's observation would probably be a good one to teach about various
methodological issues, including the dangers of small and selective samples,
the multiplicity of explanations for (even erroneous) correlational data, ...

Take care
Jim

At a restaurant where i dj,I observe that the Russian staff females were hardly
obese and they were well figured.I asked those women about that and they said
that
Russian women do not eat big meals as their American counterpart. They said that
in Russia it is cusomary to eat about six small portioned meals throughout the
day. One told me that Russian women have smaller stomachs than their
counterparts in the West.
