Since such a large part of graduate training is spent on one-on-one time with
mentors and in discussion-based seminar courses, I'd be curious to hear
evidence showing that online students are held to the same standards in their
coursework- that seems impossible to demonstrate or even to test.

My degree is still in progress. On teaching interviews, this so far not has
been an issue. Although the coursework is online, we do have 500 face to face
residency hours with faculty members from the University at various areas
throughout the country. These hours enable us to attend workshops on clinical
skills, as well as preparing for our dissertations. We are held to the same
standards in our coursework as other doctoral students.

Here's a question: how has your degree from Walden been received when
you interview for teaching positions? What questions do interviewers
have for you and how do you respond to them?

I'd be happy to answer any questions. The required courses are similar to
those at land-based Universities. We do have to conduct empirical research for
our dissertation which could either be quantitative, qualitative, or
mixed-methods. I'd be happy to answer specific questions about the coursework
and training

I have always assumed that any on-line program is at a serious
disadvantage when it comes to doing serious empirical research, but
since we seem to have a couple of people from Walden on this list, it
would be interesting to hear form them on this issue.
