Michael- I do agree with your point that psychiatrists are medically trained so 
likely to be influenced by their "education". But I think Chris' point was that 
APA claims to be an independent and "scientifically objective" group. To the 
extent that much of their funding is from the pharmaceutical industry which the 
APA purports to provide objective evaluation toward, then there is a likely 
compromised objectivity. 

I tend to agree that expecting psychiatrists to be "objective" is problematic 
as a perusal of their journal offerings will likely result in skepticism of 
their grasp of scientific research practice (yes, there are exceptions but the 
norm is rather poor as there are obvious examples of psychology research that 
is poor I think the norm is better though not as good as one would prefer).
