I did a little googling, and found this
<http://pn.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/36/14/16> which seems
to be the article that Brody got her stuff from, and it says 

"Which organ in the body has 100 million neurons and the greatest amount
of the nerve transmitter serotonin?"

That is three orders of magnitude fewer neurons than are in brain.  I
think Brody is mistaken...

She didn't say "neurons" so I think she means sensory and motor
peripheral nerve cells. Now, as to those numbers I have no clue, but I
probably would have glossed over that sentence had you not pointed it
out.
