I've been following this thread with great interest (it's actually been pretty funny). I remember joining TIPS years ago (early to mid 90s), but then somehow I drifted away only to return years later. I have no idea how to find out when I joined or when I returned, but I do remember much of what you all have been talking about. When I first joined, I was a relatively new teacher, and the thing I found most perplexing was how people had time to do anything but teach.
