Evolutionary Psychology is interesting. The most interesting observation is to learn how biological structure evolve into different uses and this rule even applies to genes. Where the gene is and the experiences it has been exposed to effects what chemicals it makes.
Biological theories are dangerous and has been link to murder of hundred of millions of people, rape, adultery, and discrimination. Since psychology is responsible with the development or discovery of 10,000 instincts by 1909, we have an obligation to teach the following: Instincts are the full blow complex behavior pattern that occur in all members of a species that can not be modified by learning. As such instinct may exist only in insects. To help get the word out fast, I am teaching lawyers how to use the instinct defense for murder and rape. National awareness will be quickly raised after a murderer or rapist escapes punishment. People will learn that there are no instincts. This awareness will hopefully reduce murder, rape, adultery, racial discrimination, and self defeating rationalizations. Innate or a simple biological association to behavioral responses which can be modified by learning is not usually used as a justification for murder, rape, adultery and discrimination. Reflex or a simple behavioral response to a stimulation which can be modified by learning is not usually used as a justification for murder, rape, adultery and discrimination. Biological predispositions or species linked behavioral responses that are easy to learn is not usually used as a justification for murder, rape, adultery and discrimination. Instincts are used to justify uncontrollable natural responses like murder, rape, adultery and discrimination. Legally since they are uncontrollable it is like a temporary insanity defense and the criminal must legally found to be innocent. Since many people believe instinct theory which was popularized by Freud and Psychologist before 1910 is true, it should be relatively easy to select a jury to find the average murderer or rapist free. The average man or woman will understand the instinct defense and accept adultery as natural and uncontrollable which may help in saving lots of marriages. Few will suspect that there are no instincts except maybe in insects. Simple biological theories are dangerous. Some psychologist and the public generally are not interested in complex biological theory that require critical thinking.
