The Nova program is available on videotape and probably is floating around somewhere on the internet. One can probably get "Secret of the Wild Child" via interlibrary loan. A transcript of the program is available on the Nova website; see: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/transcripts/2112gchild.html Additonal info for teachers is available at: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/teachers/programs/2112_wildchil.html
There is a website devoted to feral children and information on Genie is provided. See: http://www.feralchildren.com/en/showchild.php?ch=genie In 1994, the BBC program Horizon did an update on Genie which presented the researchers in a most unfavorable light (given Rymer's book and the BBC documentary, I think it is warranted). The video had once been available on the BBC website but has long since disappeared (unclear why) but it continue to exist on YouTube; see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipt0pjz0mwg (this is part 1, the rest of the program is available in seperate segments). The feralchildren.com website can probably provide additional sources. I would also recommend Doug Candland's book and another resource: "Feral Children and Clever Animals"; see http://books.google.com/books?id=RYG_CAWZZ4sC&dq=candland+%22feral+children%22&printsec=frontcover&source=bn&hl=en&ei=1cIdSpiELI2QmAf6zbnJBg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4#PPR9,M1 or http://tinyurl.com/pw7uuo -Mike Palij New York University [email protected] On Wed, 27 May 2009 15:14:54 -0700, William Scott >There is a Nova program on a girl (called Genie) allegedly kept in a closet >throughout her development.
