There is of course red/green color "blindness" mostly confined to men. What might be interesting is that some women have 4 opsins, and so see color differences where others do not. e.g. <http://pbr.psychonomic-journals.org/content/8/2/244.abstract> > (3) Can sleep deprivation or a high fever "cause" visual hallucinations? I don't remember any hallucinations being reported in REM deprivation experiments. But perhaps the question comes from a Star Trek (Next Generation) show in which the crew of a ship had apparantly all gone mad and killed each other, then it started happening on the Enterprise. Fortunately Dr. Crusher figured out it was REM deprivation (caused by the area of space they were in (I think) before it was too late. Provides an entertaining mystery and could be compared with what is really known about sleep and REM. --Mike --- To make changes to your subscription contact: Bill Southerly ([email protected])
