ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY


The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is a member of the University of
Wisconsin System and is located in scenic west central Wisconsin, 30 miles
east of the Twin Cities metropolitan area with easily accessible year
around arts, cultural and recreational events.  UW-RF's 5600 graduate and
undergraduate students pursue degrees in the College of Agriculture, Food,
and Environmental Sciences; College of Arts and Sciences; and College of
Education and Graduate Studies, as well as the School of Business and
Economics.  The University provides an excellent environment for learning,
emphasizing the importance of faculty-student interaction in classrooms,
laboratories, academic advising and co-curricular activities.  A favorable
student-faculty ratio affords opportunity for meaningful interchange

Located within the College of Arts and Sciences, the Psychology Department
at UW-River Falls consists of seven full-time faculty and approximately 200
undergraduate majors.  The facilities include a computer laboratory,
experimental  laboratories, a social behavior laboratory, and classrooms
with technological  support.  Several department faculty have recently been
recognized for their excellence in teaching.  Two student organizations,
Psi Chi and the Psychology Society, are active within the department.

The Position:  The Psychology Department is seeking applicants for a
tenure-track, Assistant Professor in  Social Psychology position with
expertise in one or more of the following areas:  social cognition, social
influence, prejudice/discrimination, attitude formation, or cross-cultural
psychology.  The primary duties of this position include teaching Social
Psychology, Individual and Group Processes, an upper division course in the
area of expertise as well as courses in both Research Methods and General
Psychology.  Teaching duties include meeting four courses each semester.
Additional duties include advising students, participation in departmental
activities, and serving on department, college, and university committees.
The candidate will be expected to engage in scholarly activities such as
writing and publishing in professional journals and attendance and
presentation at professional meetings.

Salary:  Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:  A Ph.D. in Psychology with primary training in one or more
of the areas specified above at the time of application,  demonstrated
excellence in teaching, and demonstrated ability to conduct social
psychological research.
