Hi Tipsters,

Since we are discussing academic dishonesty, I thought I'd go ahead and
relay an experience I had very early on in my academic career.

I was sure that a paper that I had in class was plagiarized. I thought
about trying to track down the original source but was a little short on
time. Instead, I made an announcement in class that I had discovered
that one of the papers in class has been plagiarized and that I hoped
that student would come and see me sometime during the week before I
turned the matter over to the dean.

I was pleased when the student came to discuss the matter with me and
was very apologetic. What I hadn't expected was the large number of
other students that graced my door that week!

Best wishes,

linda
