I also adopted green ink as my "color" for comments on student papers and
provided the "green is nurturing" metaphor to justify my choice.  However,
I write a lot on the papers (lots of editorial tinkering with sentences).
I find that my reputation for extensive comments precedes me and my
students have conditioned fear responses to green ink!  There is much
joking around here about the "dreaded green pen."
