I've run into the same problem as Beth. Too many distractions. Given I use
many overheads, outdoors is impossible. I tried having the student
presentations outdoors but presenting to a class of distracted students made
it an unpleasant experience for the presenters. Although I like the idea of
sitting under a tree with my students It just doesn't work

I've tried the occasional outside class on a nice day, but even with a
smaller class (15 students),
it was not very successful. Students seem more easily distracted and
participation was at a
minimum. Also difficult for all to hear the speaker.
Anyone else have more success?

And while on this topic,(free associating), do you occasionally
hold classes outdoors, underneath trees and how does that impact
pour pedagogy and student-teacher discussion interaction?
