I cannot teach or take an outside class because I have lupus and too much
sunlight can make me sick. On several occasions I've been in the awkward
position of having to ruin everyone's fun by informing an instructor who
wants to move a class outside that I cannot participate. This also forces
me to announce my disability which would otherwise have gone unnoticed.
There are a number of diseases and medications that make people
sunlight-sensitive. Outside facilities also are not likely to be as
accessible as classrooms (lack chairs, bumpy ground, etc.)
Ruining everyone's fun again, Erica
