I did this last semester, and also gave extra credit to anyone whose question I used.  Better motivation to compose a better question.  Students liked it a lot.  (I didn't go over the questions in class before the test however, so the argument could be made that the student whose question I used got double credit - extra from me for use of the question, as well as prior knowledge of a test question.  Well, all the more reason to try extra hard. Attendance has of course dipped this last week of summer session, I think this will be a nice value-added for those students who choose to attend. Anybody ever try this?
