        It was interesting that you brought up the comment about notes
being posted on a website. We are currently having this problem with at
our university.  There is a company (I think it may actually be
collegestudent.com) advertising around campus to hire note takers.  The
company will pay the note takers $300-$400 a semester to take notes and
then the company will post the notes on a website. 
        Faculty and graduate students are having a problem with this idea
because students feel as though they do not have to attend class because
they can get the notes off the web.  Our university attourney has sent a
campus-wide email advising against letting note takers into your
classrooms (if a student is not on your roster then you have the right to
ask them to leave the classroom).  Faculty can also protect themselves
from having their notes posted on the web by copyrighting the notes.
