A few quick points between meetings today...

I did not mean to imply that the message was purely an advertisement, nor
that advertisements could never been informative. In fact, the
advertisement in question was informative, and probably relevant to those
needing CE credits. I was simply pointing out that it was more than just an
informative post by a neutral party.

Also, I was not offended by the post, though I do question the
appropriatness of the post to TIPS. (NOTE: I felt it was completely
appropriate on NEWPSYCH given the difference in audience and purpose/tone
of the list.) I wanted to clarify the position that it was not simply seen
on another list and reposted to TIPS, but was in fact posted in both
locations (NEWPSYCH and TIPS) by the same person, a point that was unclear
in the message I was actually responding to. And, if the message had been
posted in response to a request for such information, I doubt we would be
having this discussion...

Finally, I do not support mail bombing anyone. I am happy for Dr. Saba that
the response has been "overwhelming" and I'm sure many will benefit from
the program. And I do wonder if this is a sign of much worse things to come
as word of TIPS begins to spread. The main question in my mind being: Will
TIPS remain a resource for information about the teaching of psychology, or
will it change into a list addressing more general concerns of
psychologists (like NEWPSYCH)?

Off to another wonderful meeting...
