I have an 8-year-old son who received the books for his birthday (ok, I
bought them!).  And we spent Thanksgiving break reading them--he's almost
finished with the 2nd, and I'm almost finished with the third.  And I concur
with everything Gary said about them.

TIPS relevance: easy way to engage in avoidance behavior when you have a big
stack of papers to grade over the holiday (sigh, I still have them to
grade!).
