1.  Isn't this likely to be disturbing to non-European (or at
least non-christian students)?

2.  Isn't this likely to be disturbing to all students, assuming
they could hear about your comment, as it indicates a rather
flippant attitude toward grades and the academic performance of
your students?  If I have a class that as a whole doesn't do well
on a test, I would try to identify some of the problem areas and
correct those I should myself (e.g., perhaps poor choice of
questions) and help students correct those they should (e.g.,
suggestions for studying and remembering information).
