Shirley, My wife (Reference Librarian for the ND State Library) says, off the top of her head, that MLA has a data base equivalent to our PsycInfo. It, too, is subscription only, but some member of your English faculty may be a subscriber. That may be the best starting place. Sorry she can't recall the name of it; it is over in her office. Your main campus library may subscribe. It is remarkable how much behavioral research gets published in journals that APA does abstract. A friend in our English department has sent me a number of references and web sites over the past few years that contained methodologically sound, and interesting, psychological research. True, I've not double checked all of them against PsycInfo, but I know that a couple came from journals which APA doesn't abstract. I haven't checked lately, but I'll bet there are several journals in "Kitty Lit" and that they aren't abstracted by APA. I hope this is useful. Al Al L. Tipsters: A student came by and asked me a question today that really stumped me. She is writing a paper, and is interested on the "impact of fairy tales on children." I searched PsychInfo and came up with some matches on "fairy tales" but not really anything that dealt with the impact on children. I think that the student wants to know if hearing fairy tales affects children's creativity, or their 'views of the world.' Have any of you heard of any research in this area? TIA for any help you might be able to offer.
