My attempt to correlate the intensity of handshaking behavior to exam performance is
really a spin-off
of a research study that purportedly demonstrated that a psychometrician was able to
find
a
correlation between the intensity of the handshake and personality profiles as
measured by
a questionnaire.
There were variations in handshaking behavior depending on Type
A,Introversion,Extoversion
and other
personality types.
Although it has been suggested that I should also shake the hands of a female
students,I
was
concerned about whether the validity of this response as it performs to female
students.It
seems ok for males but not for the females.
My next task is to downplay this Eurocentric measure, and try post-exam huggings of my
students from
the Middle East-a valid response measure for this population.
BTW,did not the dude Leo Buscaglia had a habit of hugging students?
