I've always used ear plugs. They're available from David Kopf
Instruments, model 810 (with a picture) at:

I couln't find a price for them on-line, but it's sure to be
outrageous. Another thing about the ear plugs: they're tricky to
learn to use, and even more difficult to teach someone else how
to insert them.
