UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN IOWA, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY 
seeks applicants for three open tenure track positions beginning Fall, 2001.  
Appointments will be at the Assistant Professor level.  Minimum qualifications 
for all positions include: an earned Ph.D. in psychology (ABD's will be
considered with evidence of completion by August 1, 2001), a commitment 
to a systematic program of scholarly research, and a strong interest in
excellence 
in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Applicants with teaching 
experience will be particularly desirable.  To ensure full consideration,

1) EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY- Must be able to teach courses in 
Sensation/Perception, Learning, and possibly History & Systems on a regular
basis.  
Ability to teach Research Methods and/or Introduction to Psychology as needed

2) BIOPSYCHOLOGY- Must be able to teach courses in Physiological Psychology, 
Drugs and Behavior, and possibly Health Psychology on a regular basis. Ability
to teach Introduction to Psychology and History and Systems as needed would
also be helpful.

Applicants for positions 1 and 2 should be able to establish research programs
consistent 
with the institution's resources, which do not include animal laboratory
facilities.  
For position 1),  area of research is otherwise open; for position 2), we are
particularly 
interested in applicants interested inbehavioral genetics, addictions
(including 
alcohol/nicotine), or obesity/eating disorders. 
3) PSYCHOLOGY AND LAW- Requires teaching courses in Psychology and Law,
Research Methods, and Introduction to Psychology on a regular basis,  as well
as courses in specialty area (social, clinical). Formal training in psychology
and law/forensic psychology or demonstrated research expertise in this area is
required.

The University of Northern Iowa is one of three state-supported universities in
