"In memory of Stuart Sutherland (1927-1998)
Stuart Sutherland died of a heart attack recently. In his 1961 paper, he
introduced the idea of the ratio model, which explains the motion
aftereffect as a result of a change in the response ratio of two oppositely
tuned motion detectors by adaptation. This elegant model has been the
standard in the MAE research for a long time, especially since Barlow and
Hill (1963) found physiological evidence for such a mechanism"

Does anyone know about this research?
