>From an old dog:
I have been teaching more than 30 years, basicallly the same subjects with a
few differences. For the last 20 I have been teaching the same courses. My
research career is no longer active, but it used to be. I have some ideas.
Reinvent yourself. A few years ago I decided to go as multimedia as I could
with the resources available to me. I have now acquired an LCD projector,
tape player, computer, etc all nicely ensconced on my own hand made cart.
Instead of winging each class, I have now rewritten my lecture notes on
power point and added pictures, animations, gifs, etc. It is very time
consuming but also rewarding. I wrote a textbook which forced me to look at
my subject matter with new eyes and have written essays and other "think"
pieces from time to time for my own pleasure as well as for publication. My
wife and I have also taken up ballroom dancing (doesn't have anything to do
with psychology but it sure has perked us up some) Finally, I have been
making plans for my new career - retired professor in Oaxaca Mexico.
Whenever things get boring and dull and I think I will never be able to
teach schedules of reinforcement again, I try a new approach to an old topic
and write new power point notes and find new illustrations on the internet.
Try it it works
