birth order

I am currently covering the psychodynamic perspective in a high school psych class.I 
remember studying Alfred Adler's theory of birth order and the effect on personality. 
I have seen this type theory credited to a few other theorists too. Was Adler the 
primary theorist? Am I completely off?
