Or was he? Thomas (2000), in the course of disputing a
widely-disseminated claim that Albert had a learning disability,
takes on the issue under the heading "Difficulties in school?".

Interestingly, he suggests that Einstein himself may have been
the source of this claim, but disputes it. He cites Einstein's
colleague and biographer, Pais as saying "The widespread belief
that he [Albert] was a poor pupil is unfounded". Thomas notes
"Pais was especially strong in his refutation of the myth that
Einstein was slow in school".
