Two points:
1. He's from Orillia, Ontario, Canada, (which inspired his life-long
interest in the Great Lakes, demonstrated by his song "The Wreck of the
Edmund Fitzgerald,") started his career in Los Angeles in the late 1950s,
and became popular after his return to Canada where he played at the Toronto
area folk clubs in the 1960s.
2. It isn't "If I could read your mind," it's "If you could read my mind,"
a VERY different concept.
