As someone who has spent  sometime in a Catholic seminary and also in a 
Trappist monastery,I can understand the church's stand but this should only 
apply to practicing homosexuals.After all there is a celibacy vow which should 
mean not only abstinence from heterosexual relations but also from homosexual 
encounters.A person's past behavior should have no bearing on ascsnding ad 
altare dei.After all God,Allah,Jah,Allah desires not the death of a sinner but 
that he/she should be converted and live.
Read some of the history of the saints latelY? St.Augustine?Btw,will tey be 
scrutinizind women going into the convent?
