Does your institution have a policy of having a colleague attend and observe an adjunct's teaching or junior faculty in class? Should this be done unannounced? And should the observer stay for the full class period? If you have been subject to a classroom observation,did you forewarn the students to be on their best behavior? I have known profs who plan to show a video on the day of observation.Another prof gave students a list of questions and comments to make. My best classroom observers have been those who stay for five minutes and leave.(Please no personal comments).
