Good afternoon, TIPSters! We just completed a program review last year. One of the recommendations from the Program Review Committee was to create a department advisory board (they actually recommended that for every department that was reviewed). I've gone through all of the material I own on academic departments (admittedly limited) and I've searched the APA and APS Web sites for guidance as best as I could, but I really can't find much about advisory boards for academic departments. So, could anyone point me to something that would let me know a) the structure of such boards and b) the purpose of such boards (besides "my administration wants us to have one and if we don't things won't go our way"). If you've had any experience with an advisory board and are willing to share your insights, I'd like to hear about that, too.
