Not to be circular, but by placebo effect I mean that one group gets the drug and the other group receives a placebo. When post tested they both have improveed. In human experimentation,we could attribute the improvement to the demand characteristics and mind over body effect. So from an animal perspective, what explanation would be feasible? I know about methodology.I am seeking possible explanations for any noted experimental-placebo control equivalent outcomes. For example the koala bears (they are really masurpials) of Australia love eucalyptus leaves. Is it possible to fool the koala by spraying artificial eucalyptic scent on similar type leaves which could possible trick the koala that it is having real eucalyptic leaves? In this paradigm, this would be a placebo effect.Explanation?Btw,if artificial flavors work( from the conditioninng paradigm) why use real eucalyptus when leaves artificially sprayed with eucalptus flavor will work. Back in the 1960s,there was marijuana flavored incense-when it burned it smelled like the real stuff.
