Hi folks- just a thanks to all those who provided suggestions. In the process of selecting, I caught up on a lot of TED lectures- some really great stuff (though every time I think of TED lectures I'm reminded that it made the Stuff White People Like list; according to Jonathan Haidt's lecture it should also make the What Liberals Like list). Even though we're reading about the Stanford Prison study for today, I found Zimbardo's lecture on the psychology of evil too heavy (he showed a lot of photos from Abu Ghraib, etc.). So in the end I had them watch... Zimbardo's RSA Animate video on The Secret Power of Time, Dan Ariely's talk on decision making, and Michael Shermer's talk on strange beliefs. I'll find out today what they thought of them. Patrick ** Patrick O. Dolan Associate Professor and Chair of Psychology Drew University Madison, NJ 07940 973-408-3558 [email protected]

This is a general first-year student College Seminar in which we've been working our way through Hock's Forty Studies that Changed Psychology book. Thanks for any suggestions!
