Dear Tipsters,

In two of my courses, I ask students to take a concept from the textbook or
readings and illustrate it with a personal experience, interview of someone
else with an experience or a media story.

They give a 5-6 minute seminar and then a written version of the seminar.

I grade according to content and style.

Content means the concept, the illustration, the connection and a critical
observation or question for the class.
Style means timing, interest and clarity for the oral and the usual writing
criteria for the written version.

I grade leniently on this course component, which is accompanied by exams and a
term paper.

Sincerely,

Stuart
