I'm wrong? Did you read the research results coming from Harvard, Stanford,
Northwestern etc? Have you read the full April issue of the HBR? Have you
seen anyone walk on the surface of the water lately? If you want to be
sarcastic and patronizing, so be it. It does not befit you. But, now I see
the light. When you agree, the person is a "one time descent experimental...).
When you don't, he becomes Darth Vader. Is this true of Daniel Goleman,
Richard Boyatzis, Ed Deci, Carol Dweck, et al? I've seen the same dismissal
of Mazlow and I guess someone taking ideas into the "popular realm" to apply
them has stepped over the line and fallen from the heights of the Ivory Tower.
I see you haven't given Csíkszentmihályi over to the Dark Side. That's a
relief. And, gee, I'm pleased to see that you talk of him in the same terms as
I talk. We can talk of all this all we want, but the real nuts-and-bolts issue
is how to unlearn students so that we might help both ourselves and students
learn how to swim, and to swim with the flow in order to be prepared to make
mistakes, accepting of mistakes, getting over them, learning from, and going
beyond them to become better. Anyway, I don't have to go read him, I already
have. So, I am more than acquainted with Mihali Csíkszentmihályi as I am with
the above psychologists, but know of nothing where any of them says anything
carries us into the sea of perfection. It does take us to the vast pool of
creativity, the journey of which is fraught with the peril of making mistakes.

Make it a good day
