on the TV show "House," House is dealing with a patient who is, literally, too nice; i.e. unreasonably so. His first question to the patient is, "Are you Canadian?" Later he posits to his medical underlings the evolutionary disadvantage of this characteristic and so therefore this pattern must caused by a genetic defect. When he is challenged on his evolutionary explanation, he sarcastically shouts, as only House can do, "You don't understand the way evolution works?! Where do you think we are??!! In the 21st century in the US!"
