Back in the sixties there was a movement called EST.I think it was an offshoot
of Ellis' Rational Emotive Therapy.Anyway,it was said that people would pay
a large sum of money to attend one session of est somewhere in California. Then
after they were
seated at the lecture hall, someone from the movement would get on stage and say
something like this " How stupid you are to pay all that money. Now go
home.That's it!"
Was that true of some aspect of the est approach?

attendees get there waiting to hear a lecture, someone from the movement would
come on stage and tell the attendeees "How foolish you are to pay money for
this. Now go home." Apparently that was part of the therapy.Did such an approach
take part in the movement?
