Northern Arizona University’s Psychology Department invites applications for a 
non-tenure-track Lecturer appointment beginning August 2012 (subject to final 
budgetary approval).

Primary job responsibilities are to teach and coordinate our large, 
multi-section Introduction to Psychology course. Teaching load will be 4/4.  
Courses other than Introduction to Psychology may be part of teaching 
responsibilities depending on the needs of the Department and the faculty 
member’s expertise.

A Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field (degree must be completed by the 
start date of the position) and experience teaching introductory psychology at 
the college level are required.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following preferred 
qualifications: substantial evidence of effectiveness in teaching introductory 
psychology; commitment to student success; experience teaching high-enrollment 
courses; experience with blended learning using an LMS platform such as 
Blackboard Learn; familiarity with scholarship of teaching and learning, 
particularly in the area of student success in foundational courses; experience 
administering an online research participation management system such as SONA.  
Preference is also given to candidates who are supportive of a civil work 
environment and interdisciplinary efforts, and who are committed to working 
effectively within a diverse university community.

The 22-person Psychology Department oversees an undergraduate program with 
about 900 majors and and a masters-level graduate program.  Northern Arizona 
University is a 25,000-student institution with its main campus in Flagstaff, a 
four-season community of about 65,000 at the base of the majestic San Francisco 
Peaks. NAU’s emphasis on undergraduate education is enhanced by its graduate 
programs and research as well as distance learning. All faculty members are
