There's a nice long piece in the New York Times Magazine for April 19

The author, Siddhartha Mukherjee, a medical professor at Columbia,
provides a fair review of the controversy and suggests a new
synthesis of the evidence.

Advance apology: my unread mail queue is long but a quick scan
suggests this article remains unremarked on TIPS. If I'm wrong,
sorry.
