One ihfamous legacy of British psychology was its emphasis on behavioral and cognitive traits.Launched by dudes like Galton,Cattell, and Eysenck (who incidentally was German) British psychology got into the circular reasoning of explainimg a whole range of behavior. In fact British peychology is possible responsiblte for the racist charged theories of psychometic testing of Anastasi,Jensen,Shockley (inventor of the transistor radio) on this side of the Atlantic. However, trait theory has gone out of the window and so has British social psychology. As to the current thread on Tips re Psychiatric traits being adaptive, Eysenck would find this to be a contradiction,as was his criticism of psychotherapy.
