Anyone find it ironic that research that says that people can't imagine
themselves changing in the future is published at the same time that
people make new year's resolutions for changing their future behavior?

By the way, there's a Wikipedia entry on New Year's resolutions; see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_year%27s_resolution

Perhaps the researchers should have had a manipulation where the participant
is told "imagine that it is new year's day X years in the future -- how likely are
you to change in the coming weeks and months?"
