I use concept maps a lot. I find them to be useful ways to organize my notes. I was wondering if anyone knew of any interesting research on this topic. I see connections to gestalt psychology (organizational principles for example) but anyone know of some research regarding why they're effective ways to learn? I suppose that the creation of a "mindmap" (or whatever you want to call them) requires some active thinking on the learner's part. Other ideas/research anyone have handy?
