Is NYU catching much of this?
If it is, they're hiding it very well. I'm working at home today but I
don't
think that there would be much activity on "campus" even if people were
into demonstrating. Let's consider what NYU is presenting to the world:
From the "official" NYU student newspaper: nothing, maybe tomorrow:
http://nyunews.com/
From the "unofficial" NYU student newspaper: nothing, maybe tomorrow:
http://nyulocal.com/
NOTE: the focus is on different schools at NYU engaging in a no confidence
vote of president Sexton.
From the home page of the Stern School of Business: nothing, maybe tomorrow:
http://www.stern.nyu.edu/index.htm
Miller is in the "Business & Society Program Area" at Stern; nothing, maybe
tomorrow:
http://www.stern.nyu.edu/experience-stern/about/departments-centers-initiatives/academic-departments/business-society-program/index.htm
Now, it is possible that all hell has broken loose on NYU Twitter but there
is nothing on Stern's official twitter feed:
https://twitter.com/NYUStern
Maybe student Twitter accounts are abuzz with activity but I'm not on
Twitter
so I wouldn't know. NYU Admin hasn't even sent out an email about the
"Miller Affair" (which is not surprising as I haven't yet figured out what
it takes
for the admin to send out emails outside of apocalyptic events).
He seems to have caused a virtual uproar at UNM.
The psychology department chair has posted a "response" and clarification
and
they've announced, with expected lack of clarity, an "investigation of the
matter".
See, Miller's "day job" is at UNM while Miller appears to be slumming at NYU
(or possibly setting up a more to NYU though not after this incident). I
expect
that UNM is justifiably more concerned with the behavior of their tenured
faculty
then NYU will be with respect to a visiting prof.
So, maybe NYU will simply ignore the whole thing and hope that everyone
forgets
about the incident. I think it's another story at UNM.
