I admit to not watching much on commercial TV, usually the news
and related information programming, movies, and a few series
(e.g., "Mad Men", "Walking Dead") but there appears to be a
recent trend in TV programming to have key participants
appear "naked" on the show (with appropriate blurring of the
naughty bits). One such series is "Naked Dating" and I only
know about this program is because of an article on the
"Entertainment Weekly" website (I was there because of
an article on season 2 of "Agents of Shield" where I saw
a blurb for this show). For those who are interested, here
is a link to the article about the show and it also contains
a trailer video; see:
http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/07/11/naked-dating-trailer/

I can't figure out whether this is an implicit promotional
pitch for nudism as a lifestyle or simply another lame
commercial TV to be salacious with plausible deniability
(i.e., it's not about sex, it's about how being nude makes
one more honest -- stuff right out of the late 1960's human
potential movement). Apparently this is just the latest in
a "Naked" reality shows. The article points out that
are the shows "Naked Vegas" (SyFy), "Buying Naked"
(TLC), and "Naked and Afraid" (Discovery).

So, "Naked Teaching" -- at the college level -- would
seem to be a natural extension (though I think that
"Naked Cheerleading" would be much, much more
popular). Of course, one could argue for a reality
show "Naked Psychotherapy" but clinicians already
did that back in the day (one wonders if any of them
filmed their sessions, especially the marathon nude
encounter sessions).

As this trends jumps the shark, I'm sure that we'll see
the last desperate attempts to use the "naked" concept
in weirder ways such as "Naked Cops" and "Naked
Biggest Loser" (the weight loss program).

I can't wait until the naked concept transitions to fictional
series. I really want to see what a "Naked Fargo" would
look like. 1/2 ;-)
