The College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University invites 
applicationsto fill the position of Chairperson of the Department of 
Psychology. The starting date is July 1, 2016. The Chairperson has 
administrative, teaching, and scholarship responsibilities and assumes 
leadership of a Department with approximately 40 faculty and 
administrative members. The salary is competitive and commensurate with 
experience and qualifications. The Search Committee encourages 
candidates at the rank of Associate or Full Professor from all 
specializations in Psychology to apply for the position.

  The successful candidate will
have:

* An earned Doctorate in Psychology

* Strong interpersonal, leadership, and management skills

* Evidence of academic administrative ability and effectiveness

* A commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service that is consistent 
with the missions of the Department, the College of Arts and Sciences, 
and Appalachian State University

* A demonstrated ability to work with colleagues from a variety of 
Psychology subspecialties

* A demonstrated competency working with colleagues across and outside 
of the university

Preference will be given to candidates withsignificant administrative 
experience, a strong record of scholarship, experience with external 
funding, a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education, and 
familiarity with the multiple areas of Psychology within the Department.

Appalachian State University is a member institution of the 
sixteen-campus University of North Carolina.Located in Boone, North 
Carolina, the University has approximately 17,500 students, primarily in 
bachelor's and master's programs in both liberal arts and applied 
fields.Appalachian has a traditional residential campus and a variety of 
distance education programs.The Department has 36 full-time faculty 
members (34 doctoral, 32 tenure-track) with graduate programs in 
Clinical, Experimental, Industrial-Organizational and Human Resource 
Management, and School Psychology. There are approximately 900 
undergraduate majors and 84 full-time graduate students. Additional
